How I Got This Internship
Linkedin post, sent around 100 cold mails before this to various companies. I heard back after my application after around a month, then interview rounds happened every week or 2 weeks (3 rounds)
Preparation Resources
Internet (Geeksforgeeks, ChatGPT, Research Papers)
Tests and Interviews
Based on Deep Learning fundamentals (transformers fundamentals from its original paper), ML basics like precision recall, basic DSA, problem solving (given a problem statement, how I would work on it)
Handling Rejections
Kept Apping, can’t let any day go without apping
Work / Project
Conversational LLMs
Organizational Culture
Part of 2 teams, one team was chill, other team’s work was a bit more hectic. Worked under MLE 2 and MLE 3, 2 and 6 years my senior.
Networking
Yes, but not necessarily for professional purposes, it was mostly to know more about the company’s culture as a full-time employee to know whether I would want to work there in the future.
Overall Experience
It was nice, comparatively more on the hectic side as an intern, so not the right place if your expectation from the internship is a chill one, cause you’ll be wasting it if you think so. It is a different kind of experience compared to other companies; there is no question of working on stuff that MIGHT go into production. You just jump into a live project from day 2 and are expected to ship something in a month, but that something has to be good enough to ship. You do get to learn a lot, you aren’t given bs projects, you are given real work and you have the choice to talk about what work you like and you don’t. I personally liked what I was working on as it was all new to me. No coupons on zomato, and no lunch, breakfast, or snacks in the office though, so you have to bring your own food or order, so expenses increase a bit there. You’ll get work if you keep working and ask for it, so if you want to push out as much work as you can in your internship, it will be great for you.
Would You Recommend?
Yes. I would recommend it because it is a good internship, no bullshit projects to occupy the intern, the people there are competent, and as an intern, you can get a sizable amount of work to occupy yourself which goes live, and it happens from day 2 so you get a good work ethic going if you keep up with the work and keep asking for more.
