Basic Information

  • Name: Suketu Patni
  • Branch: BTech
  • Company: NVIDIA
  • Duration: 9 weeks

Domain Targeted

Mostly elec core and related (so like NVIDIA, TI, Samsung Korea, Sony)

I learnt a lot of digital design stuff over the summer. Then in my 5th semester I took VLSI design which I really liked and that sort of cemented my preference for elec core over anything else.

Preparation Resources

Vatsal’s question bank, Indranil Sengupta’s youtube videos, HDLBits

Digital Systems, Microprocessors, single cycle/multi cycle/pipelined cpu are all important. basic vlsi design, bash scripting, and basic c/c++ is a plus.

Interview Experience

technical test -> one interview (online but held in LA001) -> offer

Not during the selection process.

Difficulty rating (1-5): 4

Project Work

RTL design of a safety related IP.

Overall Experience

Amazing. Work culture is pretty healthy at NVIDIA with no fixed hours; its like everyone has their own schedule but they still finish the work on time. my manager and mentors were super nice and guided me a lot. i learnt a lot from them. i was lucky to get a project related to HDL; some other interns got verification (which would also have been good) but some got some stuff barely related to EE. facilities were great, we were kept in a hotel where we got breakfast and dinner and in the office we got breakfast, lunch, and snacks. workspace and work-related facilities were also top class.

Networking Opportunities

Yeah, I am still going to be in touch with my mentors and my manager after my internship.

Recommendation & Advice

100% recommended if you want some experience in digital design. this is pretty cutting edge work, and you get to learn a lot about how hardware is developed collaboratively, so i would definitely recommend it.
